Laugaren
A great way to recover from a long day of travel or hiking. Extremely well run, with one or two sauna volunteers (including one with you while you sauna) making sure everyone is comfortable and everything is clean. Prices are the lowest in the city and are very low earlier in the day. You book on the website and they check off names when you arrive. Come early for a less crowded experience, too. There are two changing stalls in the floating sauna building and two on shore next to an open, cold water shower. The two inside are better. There is plenty of open space to store clothes and shoes, but don't bring extra stuff. Be sure to bring one towel to sit on and another to dry off, as well as a water bottle. They have fresh water, but no cup. It gets very hot, but the sea is right outside so everyone sweats for 20 minutes and then jumps into the sea, starting over again. When we started I thought, "what am I doing," but after finishing (we didn't stay the whole nearly two hours), I felt like a million kroner. Everyone is welcome, but partipants are generally very fit and lean younger. Everyone wears swimsuits, except for special "naked saunas" in the evenings. We missed that one...
